The Old School Museum opened as a school in 1873. It is believed to be one of only three schools built which comprised both classrooms and a teacher’s residence remaining in NSW. The school closed in 1946, then was reopened as a museum in 1973. It is listed on the register of the National Trust of Australia. The museum has an extensive library on local history and a photographic collection from which copies may be purchased.

We wish to acknowledge and respect their continuing culture and the contribution they make to the life of Canberra and the region. We also acknowledge all other First Nations Peoples on whose lands we gather.
