Orientation Week for Semester 1 2009 will take place from Monday 16 to Friday 20 February 2009. It’s all about putting U into UC ...Orientation Week is designed to help you get your University life and education off to the perfect start, and it can be a whole lot of fun. You’re about to enter a period of personal transformation as you acquire new skills, knowledge, freedom and confidence. Uni is sure no place like high-school or college, and as with any new adventure, it pays to acquire all the knowledge you can before you set out on your journey. O-Week is your opportunity to meet people, and discover how to source the information you’ll need to make your time at University and your learning experience pleasant and effective. It’s your chance to find out important details about your course, how to structure your degree and how to enrol. There’ll be people to help you and general and course specific information sessions to attend. To help you find your way round, there’ll be student-run guided tours of the campus and its facilities from lecture halls to libraries and cafes to computer labs. You’ll be given inside info on social hotspots and sourcing assistance of every kind. O-Week is an opportunity to investigate the University’s various clubs and societies. These are a great way to meet new friends and take up new activities from high-country hiking to scuba diving and every faculty-based and social activity you can imagine in between. There’ll be plenty of social opportunities to meet other students. Bar nights, bands, BBQs and market day are just some of the events planned to encourage you to get involved during the week long celebration. Participating in O-Week is important to getting off to a flying start in your first year of University. It means that when you commence first semester, you’re already ‘in the know'. You know where people and ‘stuff’ can be found. You know how to get from A to B. You know where to find help and assistance if you need it. You’ll be equipped with the tools needed to thrive at University. Please check back closer to O-Week for program details.
