The Volunteering Expo brings together local Canberra Region community organisations to a one-day exhibition event on Sat 18 May, celebrating and kicking off Volunteering Week 2024 20-26 May. Here attendees can connect with their local community, support the organisations, and find out how they can get involved in volunteering in Canberra. The Expo attracts hundreds of interested and motivated individuals, all looking for volunteer roles and pathways, and so is the perfect opportunity for you to meet these organisations all conveniently in one place.

How about putting aside some time for learning about Jesus? 'Reading about Jesus' is an opportunity to join with others and read through the Bible’s accounts of Jesus, to discuss and learn together. Sometimes it is hard to meet new people, or to find opportunities to practice speaking in English. We wanted to provide a chance to help you with this. Our English Conversation Club is an informal time, not a structured class. In a small group we talk about a different topic each meeting, with a native English speaker. Improve your English by practicing your speaking and listening, and make some new friends along the way! Come and join us to do some bouldering and share a drink or two.  All abilities are welcome. Mountain Strong has a vast range of ability levels, from beginner to expert! This is a good way to meet some like-minded outdoorsy people in Canberra.  The bouldering starts at Mountain Strong (66-68 Townsville St, Fyshwick ACT 2609) at 5 pm. Then we will head to Captial Brewing Co. (Building 3/1 Dairy Rd, Fyshwick ACT 2609) for a bevvy and some food. There will most likely be someone in their UCOC shirt to identify who is with the club easily.  If you can’t make it at 5 pm, we will be bouldering until about 6-6.30 pm, so please feel free to join us later.  The bouldering and beers/burgers are at your own expense.  Entry to Mountain Strong is $13 for club members, which covers entry and shoe hirer. For non-members, it is $16.  On Friday, 9 February, the first 20 people will have free entry to Mountain Strong. You will need to pay the entry fee if you are not one of the 20 people.  We head to Moutain Strong on the first Friday of most months. All the dates are listed below. Jet are Nic Cester (vocals/guitar), Chris Cester (vocals/drums), Cam Muncey (vocals/guitar) and Mark Wilson (bass).   Formed in Melbourne in the late ’90s, Jet released their first EP, the vinyl-only Dirty Sweet in 2002. Get Born was released after their label deal with Elektra and was followed by the albums Shine On in 2006 and Shaka Rock in 2009. After riding a wave of international success, Jet disbanded in 2012 before re-forming in early 2017. With Fri-YAY around the corner, there is no better way to get you prepared for the weekend than taking a walk out in Mulligans flat to get you relaxed.  Starting around 10 am, we will meet at-35.245127, 149.117740 (268 Dryandra st) and then head to walk a trail. 

As semester 2 starts ramping up, take a weekend away and camp at Depot Beach Campground. Get your mittens on some bowls and your tootsies on the green.  A social gatho at the Ruc (54 McCaughey St, Turner ACT 2612) and a reason to get bowling on the green.  Starting around 3 pm, come down for bowls and grab a beer or two after.  All the bowls will be paid for by the club. Take a well-deserved break away from it all. Come down to the coast (camping at either Saltwater Creek Campground or Little Beach Campground) to celebrate the end of the uni year or your degree. This long weekend trip (24-27 October) doesn’t have much of an agenda except to provide some well-needed rejuvenation from a hectic year!  Both of the campsites are right near the beach and provide many different areas for swimming, hiking, snorkelling, and surfing. There are many opportunities for various activities it’s all up to you.  We are waiting till availability opens up but will be booking a campsite at either Saltwater Creek Campground or Little Beach Campground for the whole time (24-27 October), and it is up to you how long you join. We need to know if you’re coming to see if we need to book more space.
