Stay Smart Online: How to spot misinformation and find facts. A short course for Australians.

Come along for a free, hour-long course on how to stay safe in our confusing digital world.

UC Library's friendly library staff will guide you through this hour-long session, giving participants better agency over their own online presence and activity.

A light morning tea will be offered following the session.

UC’s Stay Smart Online Team from the News and Media Research Centre recently developed a one-hour-long session especially for Australians, to increase media literacy and online confidence, and the results have been positive: 

  • Media literacy scores among participants improved by 23% across all demographics.
  • 80% of participants indicated an improvement in their confidence to navigate online.
  • 80% of participants indicated an improvement in their confidence to navigate online.

Presented by UC library's friendly librarians, you will leave this session with a better understanding of AI, algorithms, deepfakes, misinformation and how to stay safer in an increasingly worrying online world.

A light morning tea will be provided.
