UNCOVER Event: Public Art and Design in Canberra: Icon or Eyesore?

What constitutes public art? What makes public art successful? How does public art, architecture and design work with the vision for our city? Is the Belconnen owl an icon or eyesore?

Join host Sally Prior of The Canberra Times for an UnCover event as we speak to an industrial design UC alumnus, an architecture expert, a contemporary curator and a public art facilitator to debate the merits—and otherwise—of Canberra’s aesthetic.

Host

Shaune Lakin, Senior Curator of Photography at the National Gallery of Australia

Speakers

  • Erin Hinton (Senior Lecturer Architecture, UC)
  • Dan Armstrong (Director & Founder of Formswell Design, UC Alumnus)
  • Cathy Hope (Haig Park re-development, Faculty of Arts & Design, UC)
