The UC Medical and Counselling team have created an ‘ACT for Anxiety’ group program to help clients who are experiencing difficulties with anxiety. The ACT for Anxiety program aims to provide skills and strategies to better manage anxiety and improve day-to-day life.
It is based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which aims to help individuals accept what is beyond their control and commit to actions that improve and enrich their lives. ACT achieves this by teaching skills to effectively deal with painful thoughts and feelings, and helping to clarify what is important, using that knowledge to motivate you to create positive change.
