
UC Medical and Counselling Centre offers a free weekly workshop for UC students to help them develop new skills and tools to tackle the various challenges students face.
Each week one of our Psychologists will work with students to manage a range of challenges students face today, such as goal setting, connecting with others, managing stress, and overcoming procrastination.
The Weekly Psych Session is presented online via Zoom.

October 9 | Enhancing Resilience We will reflect today on a time when you overcame a setback and how you managed this. We will discuss personal resources that help us to adapt well in the face of adversity. |
October 16 | Exploring Purpose Today’s session will explore your sense of purpose. We will take a quiz and discuss ways to revisit this aspect of our lives which is linked to physical and mental health. |
October 23 | Stress Less Tips Today's discussion will involves sharing tips for how to keep our stress levels manageable in a uni context. We will explore some brief, practical self care activities that can be used even during exam time. |
October 30 | Meditation - Eye of the Hurricane (Exam time) Today we will meditate on "the eye of the hurricane" to practice engaging the observer self and connecting with inner peace and calm. We will speak about how to drop anchor during daily life and listen to a self-motivation exercise, setting intentions for the week ahead. |
November 6 | Meditation - Leaves on a Stream (Exam time) “Leaves on a stream” is a mindfulness technique often used in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). It’s particularly helpful when you're dealing with distressing thoughts, rumination, or cognitive overload. After experiencing this meditation we will discuss other ways to de-fuse from strong thoughts and feelings. |
November 13 | Deep Curiosity This session will explore ways in which curiosity might improve our lives and how to engage in it more often. We will also discuss ways in which curiosity might help us deepen interactions and navigate conflict. |
November 20 | Results survival guide Looking after yourself when results come out -dealing with the highs and the lows of getting your grades and the impacts on your wellbeing and stress levels. |
