We are pleased to announce that the Faculty of Education at the University of Canberra will be holding a symposium on personalised learning as a part of its affiliated schools research initiative.The symposium will be held on 8th June 2023 and will be a hybrid event that can be attended in person or virtually. 

Our keynote speaker for the symposium is Prof. Penny Bishop, the Dean of the University of Maine, College of Education and Human Development, USA. Prof. Bishop will explore the concept of personalised learning as a partnership between learners and teachers. To address the common myth that personalization isolates learners or is excessively reliant on technology, she will provide examples and research findings that illustrate how personalised learning can be used to engage learners, promote student agency, and enable students to advance self-direction. 

In addition to Prof. Bishop's keynote speech, the symposium will also feature two panel discussions and a workshop that will provide educators with the opportunity to explore the challenges associated with implementing personalised learning within compulsory school classrooms, as well as how collaborative school cultures can assist educators in developing and growing as times change. This symposium will generate rich dialogue between researchers, school leaders, and teachers in relation to the complex landscape of personalised learning. It will revisit the discourses surrounding personalised learning and provoke and encourage active discussion around what this means for the key stakeholders in education. 

We look forward to bringing together ACT policy and decision-makers, school leaders, and teachers, with leading international and national researchers in the space of personalised learning.
