What is a virtual careers fair?
A virtual fair works like a face-to-face fair except that ‘booths’ are replaced with unique video call rooms for each employer.
How does it work? You'll be joining the virtual fair through the Grad Australia Career Directory
Exhibiting employers are featured on a dedicated landing page
Prior to the event, you can review employer profiles and decide which sessions to attend
How do I prepare?
Review the list of the exhibiting employers prior to the fair here
Come prepared; read the employer profiles; decide which ones you want to meet and prepare a few questions to ask.
Video room moderation and etiquette:
Your video room is not a one-on-one meeting with an employer, rather anywhere between a few students and a hundred students.
Students will have their audio and video muted by default. They have the flexibility to turn either on (and should be encouraged to if they feel comfortable).
For small groups (less than 5), the conversation flows as it would at a face-to-face fair:
Students can ask questions for employers about the company and graduate program
Employers can choose to screen share and run through a presentation, do a walking tour around the office, or just answer questions as they come
For large groups (more than 5 students), the discussion is moderated by the employer representative by picking questions from a list submitted in the video chat log.
When a question is selected from the list, the employer representative can ask the student to repeat the question before answering it.
Room control
All participants will be muted by default, to reduce background noise
The employer representative has control of the video room and can ask people to leave or kick them out if they are being disruptive.
We very much appreciate your attendance at this virtual career fair and look forward to delivering an outstanding experience for employers and students alike.
