Join our panel of leading academics and industry experts in exploring a new approach to building the health and care workforce that meets the needs of Australian communities and supports Government priorities.
This seminar will provide an opportunity to hear about these propositions, identify areas of consensus and challenge, and consider what practical actions could strengthen Australia's health and care workforce system over the coming decades.
The seminar will be anchored in a new paper by University of Canberra Adjunct Professor Stephen Duckett, who argues in Getting planning for the health and social care workforce right that while Australia has produced numerous workforce strategies and plans, workforce shortages continue to deepen across health, aged care and community services. Professor Kasia Bail from the Centre for Ageing Research and Translation at the University of Canberra and Professor Mark Cormackfrom the National Centre for Health Workforce Studies, ANU will offer reflections on Stephen’s paper.
Professor Duckett’s paper is the first Occasional Paper in a series, Australian Futures, published by the Vice-Chancellor's Centre of Public Ideas (CoPI), led by Professor Frank Bongiorno.
