We are delighted to invite you to the first HDR Research Training hosted by the Centre for Deliberative Democracy and Global Governance. In this inaugural workshop, we will explore inductive research methods. Adele Webb will share insights on her inductive research, using critical interpretative methods. She will talk about the three analytical methods – historical archival research, discourse analysis and interpretative interviewing – all of which fall under an overarching genealogical approach. Hans Asenbaum will introduce democratic theorizing, an inductive method for building democratic theory with actors outside of academia, in particular, with social movements. This approach brings together elements from grounded theory, participatory research, assemblage theory, and decolonial methods. The workshop will also provide ample opportunity to discuss experiences and challenges of your PhD projects.
This event is in-person. Registration is required because of limited seating.
