Poetry on the Move Festival 2022

The Poetry on the Move Festival is returning to face-to-face with 4 days packed with poetry from the 22-26 September. See the website for what’s on and registration details. Join us online and in-person!

Key events include a one-day symposium on Thursday 22 September and an offering of 10workshops– filling fast.

The opening event is at Gorman Arts Centre on Thursday evening from 5–7pm. There will be light refreshments, a reception and readings by two of this year's Poets-in-Residence, Prithvi Varatharajan and Marjon Mossammaparast, from Melbourne. Friday morning features National Book Award Winner Martin Espada from the United States (via Zoom) and Desmond Kon from Singapore (in-person and on Zoom).

The closing event is at Smith's Alternative in the CBD on Monday, 26 September from 7-9pm. It will be a celebration of the founders and original directors of the festival and will include readings by Paul Hetherington, Paul Munden, Jen Webb and Shane Strange, MC’d by Kimberly Williams. 

Founded in 2015, the University of Canberra’s Poetry on the Move is a major initiative of the Centre for Creative and Cultural Research to promote poetry as a vibrant art form through engagement with international, national and local poetry communities.
