Inclusion & Engagement

International Day of People with Disability @ UC

Inclusion & Engagement (I&E) and the Student Representative Council (SRC) are celebrating International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) early this year on Tuesday 12 October.

The objective of the day is to celebrate the achievements of people with disability by promoting awareness, understanding and acceptance within our workplaces, institutions and communities.

At UC we hold equity, diversity, inclusion and access as some of our core principles, so holding an event to celebrate the day for those across UC who identify as having a disability is something we take great pride in.

The format of the event will consist of three key activities:

  • Hear from UC VC & President, Paddy Nixon
  • “You can’t ask that!” Q&A panel discussion
  • A current UC students lived experience of disability in H.E.

Staff and students across UC will be able to submit anonymous questions here in the lead up to the event. The four panel members will then address these questions in a constructive manner, whilst offering individual experiences and perspectives.

Additional Information

As part of this celebration, we also remind you of the resources available to UC staff through the P&D Training and Development Modules; in particular the Disability and Lets Dance professional development modules. These provide a great snapshot of how you can better understand inclusive matters and help understand the needs of people with a disability.
