This thesis unit is a component of the professional doctorate in business administration (the DBA). In following on from the coursework components and the research proposal, candidate are required to demonstrate a thorough understanding of the state of knowledge in the area of inquiry, as well as the relationship of the research to the broader framework of the field. Likely work would the systematic review of literature, a review of relevant theory, systematic review and articulation of an appropriate research methodology for the study, collection and analysis of research data, writing up of empirical sections of the thesis or developing contributions and conclusions. Candidates will consult with supervisors on an appropriate semester of work in the vicinity of 2,500 words.
- In supporting the development of a thesis, the HDR candidate will be engage in critical reflection, synthesis and evaluation of literature, theory, methodology and/or data;
- Develop, adapt and implement research methodologies to extend and redefine existing professional practice and the production and/or application of knowledge;
- Disseminate and promote new insights to employers, peers, professional communities and the society; and
- Generate original knowledge and understanding to make a substantial contribution to existing professional practice and the production and/or application of knowledge.
