The Design Incubator unit will equip students with broad-ranging capabilities that enable them to work on diverse design-related projects and collaborative workshops with organisations in academia, government, NGOs and the design industry. Students will use research into designpreneurship and new business models to create design proposals that identify and address a specific entrepreneurial problem or opportunity confronting various businesses. Students will create a design concept and prototype along with a business and communication strategy that they will then pitch to a relevant panel of potential investors.
1. Critically review a context to identify a design problem or opportunity;
2. Synthesise research and develop effective design prototypes and solutions;
3. Evaluate, select and apply design thinking techniques to create new solutions for potential investors; and
4. Develop design proposals and professionally communicate the design solution via a pitch to potential investors.
