Students will complete 180 hours of a professional industry project of their choosing and develop their professional experience and capabilities in an organisational context. Students will undertake a project that is relevant to their degree specialisation and which develops a deeper understanding of their specialisation and enables them to explore their academic learning and their post-qualification career. At the same time the project will create substantial benefits for both the student and the host organisation. The organisation may be located in Australia or overseas.
Assessment tasks in this unit will include producing a proposal and a piece of research or analysis in the form of a report that explores the chosen topic and contributes to knowledge in the field that is relevant for both the student and the organisation with which they have engaged.
1. Critique and identify organisational and social issues that would benefit from critical and social research analysis;
2. Conceptualise a project (work simulated or internship based) that is relevant to an industry or community (host) organisation.
3. Manage this project, including data gathering, working with the host organisation and meeting a deadline; and
4. Evaluate and synthesise research in a project report of a professional standard.
