Michael Chapman is living proof that hard work and tenacity pays off. Through using UC’s extensive support services, Michael turned a challenging start to tertiary education into a fulfilling career as a high school teacher.
‘In Year 11 and 12, I had a family member pass away and my grades suffered,’ Michael explains. ‘UC gave me a chance through a bridging course.’
‘I studied really hard, and eventually went into Education. My teachers were incredibly supportive and made sure I had the tools I needed to succeed.’
Michael flourished during his time at UC, embracing uni life and—as a champion mountain runner—taking advantage of UC’s passion for sport. ‘I loved the live music, bars and vibe. During my studies, I had to go overseas to compete in international competitions, and UC supported my ambitions.’
Michael’s passion for life translates into his career as an educator.
‘I take chances. I learn a lot from other teachers. I know better than anyone that if you work hard, you can thrive.’
