You might see Dr Girija Chetty around UC’s campus or even had her as a teacher, especially if you’re a student of software engineering. Equipped with a Bachelors and Masters in Engineering, and later going on to earn her PhD in Information Sciences and Engineering (IT&E), Dr Girija has become one of UC’s top engineering professors! Dr Girija’s teaching focuses on training students to become Computer Scientists, Software Engineers and Information Technology specialists.

In addition to working as an Associate Professor in Software Engineering, Dr Girija leads a research team which has contributed significantly to technological advances in security and healthcare. As if teaching and research weren’t enough, Dr Girija is also a senior member of Women in Engineering Affinity Group, which promotes engineering and technology careers for women.

“University of Canberra has provided an excellent research environment for my PhD studies in discipline of Information Sciences and Engineering,” Dr Girija says. “My time at UC has contributed significantly in embarking on my dream career as an academic, researcher, teacher and software consultant in cutting edge Computer Science, Software Engineering and Information Technology disciplines, which I always wanted to pursue.”

From student to teacher / researcher, Dr Girija has made a name for herself. “UC is an excellent place to be whether you are a student or a staff. I have cherished every moment here in last ten years of my stay in UC from 2004 to 2014. Thank you UC for everything!”
