Some students graduate and move on, but three-time UC graduate David Halpin has remained close to his roots, forming a bond with the Exercise and Sports Science students and faculty that will last a lifetime.

Born and raised in Canberra, David had always been an avid sportsman, proving his worth several times over as a rugby player and rower. After winning several awards and scholarships, David took his love for sports to the next level, completing three degrees in sports science and exercise physiology at UC. As a student, David honed his skills for presentation and teaching by tutoring students in the Anatomy & Physiology. Using UC's famous networks with the ACT Academy of Sports and Australian Institute of Sport (AIS), along with being a University of Canberra and UCNISS student ambassador, David found the transition from student to employee quite easy.

In only a few years after graduating, David has already held a number of positions which have fueled his professional growth, currently working as an Exercise Physiologist at Capital Clinic Physiotherapy.

Since graduating with his Masters of Exercise Science in Clinical Exercise Physiology in 2012, David has remained active in Canberra's exercise and sports departments, serving on UC's Sports Science board and provides clinical supervision placements to University of Canberra exercise physiology students at his current practice Capital Clinic Physiotherapy.

From his beginnings as a stellar athlete, to a dedicated student, and now as a fully accredited Exercise Physiologist (ESSA) and Exercise Scientist (ESSA), David has turned his passion for sports into a lifelong career. We at UC are proud of David's achievements and are happy to have helped him along the way!
