This course will teach you foundational knowledge and skills to understand school education in Australia while giving you an introduction to theoretical perspectives in the key learning areas of literacy, science and mathematics (dependant on whether you commence in Winter Term or Semester 2). It will develop your communication skills and introduce you to the meaningful responsibility of facilitating development and learning in children.
Upon completion of the certificate, you will be equipped with knowledge and skills to assist learning, work as an education officer or learning support assistant, and you will have the foundational knowledge and skills to support home education.
At the end of this course, you will have the opportunity to continue your study towards an Initial Teacher Education degree in either Primary or Secondary Education at UC to become a registered teacher and teach in classrooms across ACT and Australia.
