Scholarship Application Ranking Process
Applications for scholarships are processed within the HDR Support team where they are assessed for completion and eligibility for entry into an Australian higher degree by research.
Applications that have passed this initial assessment are then forwarded to the appropriate faculties for academic staff to assess and rank applicants in an order of merit based on academic qualifications, strategic alignment, research proposal and research experience.
Faculties are required to score the candidate’s qualifications using the scale provided or make a case for Recognised Prior Learning for candidates who do not have the required qualifications.
Faculties are required to provide a statement and evaluation of the candidate’s alignment within, and support from, an environment of research excellence.
Faculties are required to provide a statement and evaluation of the quality of the candidate’s research proposal.
Faculties are required to provide a statement and evaluation of the candidate’s research training gained through professional experience, and publications or other research outputs.
The University Scholarship Ranking Committee meets to establish a university-wide Order of Merit list, based on the faculties rankings. Through this process, scholarships are awarded to the highest ranking applicants in this University-wide Order of Merit.
