Biography

Tracy Logan is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Canberra. She has a deep knowledge of, and passion for, research-informed education.  With more than 18 years-experience across classroom-based practice and research, her knowledge base includes mathematics and STEM. As the Deputy Director of the STEM Education Research Centre, Tracy has worked on key projects including Early Learning STEM Australia (ELSA), re-conceptualising how STEM is considered in pre-schools and schools, and Australian Research Council funded research on spatial reasoning and mathematics. All this work has been classroom-focused, with engagement with teachers at the core of the research. This research informs her teaching with undergraduate and postgraduate Initial Teacher Education units across mathematics and STEM. Her industry involvement has included research projects with the Australian Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA), Samsung Australia, and the World Bank (Indonesia).

Tracy completed her PhD at the University of Canberra in the area of mathematics education, with a focus on secondary data analysis utilising a sophisticated framework that analyses both quantitative and qualitative data. Her Master's thesis at Queensland University of Technology was awarded dissertation of the year.
