Septimus Sim Sang: Mountain Village

Septimus Sim Sang Mountain Village Scene

Although  little is known about the artist , other than he  is Malaysian,  Septimus Sim Sang  created this scene using watercolours in  around 1986.  It is a delightful picturesque scene set in  the mountains, presumably Malaysia. Sim Sang uses traditional brush stroke techniques to emphasize the wooded plain in the foreground and the misty veil  that  rises over the hills and mountains stretching into the background.  The image is  quite realistic when compared to actual photographic scenes and, helps to be quite evocative. The single village hut stands out on the plain- thus the only suggestion of human habitation. It is  quite serene.
