The Artist
According to Tjungu Palya, Lance was born in Carnarvon in 1975. Hi Father is Nanda from Northampton and his mother Indjibandi is from Roebourne. Lance grew up in Wiluna, Western Australia and came to the Ngaanyatjarra and Pitjantjatjarra lands as a young man. He lives with his wife and daughter in Kanpi.
The work of Art
Kata Kata is a silkscreen print that depicts the country north of Wiluna in Western Australia in the Pilbra region and the rock-hole, Kata Kata. This landscape was also described in the book, Last of the Nomads and the land of Lance's family. The whate area depicted is Lake Dissapointment whereas the red areas represent sandy and rocky country .
