Anne Dybka: Blue Sea Bowl: The Unicorn of the Sea

The Artist

Anne Dybka trained in Fine Arts in London and began working with glass after coming to Australia in 1956.She now specialises in contemporary glass engraving as this work is declining throughout the world with good works becoming both rare and more valuable.

Anne is a Fellow of the Guild of Glass Engravers in London, and has many years experience in decorative work on both a large scale and for corporate presentation items. Her work has been purchased by the Government at both Federal and State levels and includes the glass shield behind the Presidents chair in the Senate of  Parliament House, Canberra.

The Work of Art

The Unicorn of the Sea is a blue bowl made from blown blue glass. The glass bowl represents the Narwal  or the 'unicorn of the sea'. Anne created the work in 1995 and it was exhibited at the Canberra Museum and Art Gallery in 1999 as part of the Collective Wisdom  exhibition jointly held with the ANU.
