Specialist & International WIL

The University of Canberra provides students the opportunity to undertake exciting Work Integrated Learning (WIL) programs to complement your study. Knowledge Exchange Placement (KEP) scholarships are offered to high-performing students eligible to apply for this 12 credit-point program. Internships are advertised through CareerHub, and through your Faculty course convenors. 

This program sees successful students receive a monetary scholarship to undertake a full time semester long internship in the host organisations workplace. You will undertake a special project and be a full time member of the team. More information on how to be a part of this program, speak with your Course Convenor or contact the UC Engagement Office.

Scholarships- International Internships

Why not consider adding to your practical experience through an overseas internship? The University of Canberra has secured prestigious New Colombo Plan Mobility Grants for internship programs in Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia. These programs provide opportunities for students across all university faculties and are delivered in Summer and Winter Terms each year. ArtBound Initiative is a New York City based agency for individuals seeking professional advancement in the creative fields at an international level. Their mission is to encourage connections between participants, industry leaders and global companies. ArtBound Initiative operate programs in New York, London, Berlin and Hong Kong.


Asiania International Consultancy (AIC) run out of Thailand, and offer short term mobility, student exchange, and internship programs. AIC provides a variety of choices of education and experience programs in a wide range of ASEAN countries, and is a proud partner of UC.


CIS Australia is dedicated to providing Australians innovative, high quality overseas study, intern and volunteer experiences. CIS currently provide short term mobility and internship opportunities to UC students.


Deggendorf University in Germany offers a paid Teaching Assistant Internship Program, allowing you to stay for periods of three months or longer .

International internships take time to organise and plan correctly. Please make sure you note application dates and timelines for the programs you are interested in. Students are required to have a strong academic record in order to participate in an endorsed UC international internship program.

The United States (US) Embassy in Canberra partners with the University of Canberra (UC) to offer a Foreign National Student Internship Program. UC Students are able to gain experience working alongside the Embassy's American and Australian employees in the following areas:

  • Canberra Greening Initiative (CGI)
  • Economics 
  • Public Affairs/Public Diplomacy
  • Management/Business

Stepping Into... Internship Program

Stepping Into is a paid internship program designed specifically for university students with disability. The program is one of mutual benefit for both employers and students and is coordinated by the Australian Network on Disability (AND).

Students benefit significantly through gaining experience of the job application and interview process, developing a network of contacts within a professional organisation, and gaining valuable paid work experience which they can include on their resumes, and having the opportunity to showcase their skills and knowledge.

CareerTrackers Indigenous Internship Program

 CareerTrackers is a national non-profit organisation that creates internship opportunities for Indigenous university students. 

CareerTrackers University 10x10 Initiative is a 10 year agreement signed with CareerTrackers and the University of Canberra. The overarching principle of this initiative is to formalise the pathways for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander university students into experiential learning opportunities and to work closely with CareerTrackers to achieve our mutual goal of improving the educational outcomes for Indigenous students.

An exciting new internship opportunity with PwC Canberra for Business, Government & Law (BGL, and Information Technology (IT) Students.

PwC is working with the University of Canberra to offer an exciting Internship opportunity! The Industry Based Learning (IBL) program is designed to integrate directly with the university curriculum – yes, this means you will be awarded full credit points towards your degree at completion of the program!
