For various reasons students sometimes prefer not to graduate in their allocated round. For example a student who is invited to attend a ceremony in September but whose parents are overseas, may prefer to graduate in the April 2018 round of ceremonies.
In this situation the student must write to the Student Progress and Graduation Office stating reasons for the deferral request before 25th August 2017.
If the request is granted the student will not graduate in the original round but will be 'held over' until the following round of ceremonies and will not receive their testamur.
Students who are invited to attend the September 2017 ceremonies and choose to defer will not be conferred until April 2018. Students cannot receive a testamur until they have officially graduated.
Please note, students may only be approved to defer their graduation once.
