This unit is complementary to the Bachelor of Nursing and provides students with the opportunity to further explore philosophies and models of primary health care. The unit extends students' knowledge of primary health care from a health and wellness perspective and provides them with an experience of primary health care services that involves placement within communities to promote health.
On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
1. Analyse the various philosophical approaches to primary health care;
2. Compare and contrast the national and international policy environment in which primary health care occurs;
3. Critically discuss a primary health care strategy; and
4. Evaluate primary health care as a level of service provision.
Equivalent of 150 hours of student engagement.
