Syllabus

This unit progresses and applies knowledge about the underlying biochemistry, pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics and toxicology of drugs and how this impacts on living systems.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit, students will be able to:

1. Demonstrate a sound understanding of the pharmacology for drugs targeting diseases;

2. Explain the mechanisms of action and resulting physiological effects for commonly used drugs;

3. Apply pharmacology knowledge to solve problems involving new or novel drugs; and

4. Integrate the knowledge gained in Systems Pharmacology 1.
