Syllabus

This unit begins to investigate the underlying biochemistry, pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics and toxicology of drugs and how this impacts on living systems.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit, students will be able to:

1. Demonstrate an understanding of the pharmacology for drugs targeting disease;

2. Explain the mechanisms of action and resulting physiological effects for commonly used drugs; and

3. Understand the biochemical basis and impact of adverse effects of drugs on the body.
