Syllabus
This unit introduces the beginning teacher to the concept of teacher as researcher and as such introduces foundation educational research understanding and practices. The unit provides an opportunity to investigate some different approaches to enquiry, and to learn about specific methods of data collection and analysis. It enables the student to identify, develop, implement and report on a professional research-type activity.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
1. Demonstrate an understanding of how research and enquiry is part of educational professional's role;
2. Plan a small scale enquiry using to demonstrate a beginning understanding of research methodologies; and
3. Engage in research activity relevant to professional interests.

Corequisites
Enrolment in a Teaching course.
Assumed Knowledge
Experience from professional placements. Normally this unit is taken in the last year of the teacher preparation course.
