This unit explores the aesthetic component of landscape, the role of art in the landscape and the relationships between art practice and landscape as a source of landscape design inspiration. A variety of techniques for interpreting, making, recording and communicating landscape character will be encouraged. The unit also uses a real client brief and site to ground the work. Field and practical work are included in this unit.
- research ideas and responses to landscape as art and art in the landscape;
- analyse a site, design, locate and implement landscape insertions that respond to a specific site;
- respond to a client brief by developing proposals which consider landscape character, form, program and management; and
- work effectively in groups and as individuals.
Six hours per week.
Design Studio 2.1 (Landscape Architecture) Restriction:This unit is not open to students who have passed 8265 Design Studio 2.2 (Landscape Architecture)
Basic skills in composing design graphics in a digital environment; basic CAD drafting and editing skills.
