Syllabus
This unit provides students with an introduction to the management of organistations within the service industry and the transformation taking place in information and communication technologies. To enable students to work as a professional in a competitive market, personal communication skills must be in line with the demands of the real world of service management. Therefore, the vital role of communication in the service encounter will be emphasised, particulary in respect of electronic , written and interpersonal communication.
Learning Outcomes
- demonstrate an awareness of major information and communication technological trends in the tourism industry;
- apply a range of communication theories and concepts applicable to service-based industries; and
- demonstrate skills in interpersonal communications including conflict management, group dynamics and team management
