Syllabus
This unit is designed to increase the communicative competence of students in the Mandarin Chinese language focussing specifically on speaking and interpreting skills. Interpreting skills will cover interpreting Chinese passages into English and vice versa. The unit covers a range of topics relevant to the Australian society and to each student's professional orientation.
Learning Outcomes
- By the end of Advanced Chinese A unit, students will be able to recognise and read 3000 commonly used Chinese characters used in a variety of fields of study. They would also be able to interpret simple passages and conversations orally from Chinese into English and vice versa.
Contact Hours
Two hours per week consisting of 1 lecture and 1 tutorial.
Prerequisites
Chinese 3 (part B) or equivalent (consult with unit convener).
