    Syllabus

    As its name implies this unit serves as an introduction to the various exercise sciences. The unit first looks at human growth and physical development using some practical demonstration and experimentation. Interest is then focussed on the key issues confronting sports science today, focusing on areas ranging from the effect of the environment on exercise to the use of drugs in sport. The rest of the unit aims to introduce each of the exercise science disciplines to the student, setting a framework that can be built upon in later study.

    Learning Outcomes

    DESCRIPTION:

    1. have gained an appreciation of the various issues relating to human performance

    2. be able to apply this information to a number of sports

    3. have knowledge of each of the sports science disciplines

    4. an introductory understanding how each is used in athletic preparation
