This unit deals with the field ofhuman factors in the development of a user-centred approach to design. It introduces the history and scope of human factors in design and how this governs human interaction and user-trial techniques. Practical projects and exercises are used to demonstrate the importance of such things as human dimensions, graphic interfaces and user acceptance.
- determine principles relevant to the exercise of user-centred design;
- apply graphic interface principles to digital design;
- apply human factors principles to design projects; and
- work independently and as part of a team.
Up to four hours per week consisting of lectures/studio/workshop.
