This unit explores emerging manufacturing materials and processes relevant to product design and development with a particular focus on designing with composites. The unit will also investigate related issues of sustainability. Students produce models and prototypes using the knowledge and skills required for working with composites.
1. identify, describe and specify appropriate primary processes and materials related to emerging design technologies including manufacturing processes for composites as they apply to product design; and
2. understand and apply issues of sustainability for product design
Up to four hours per week consisting of lectures/studio/workshop. This unit may include field trips of up to two days.
