This unit refines student understanding of design process as the central creative activity in problem solving within industrial design practice. It builds on previous studies to achieve an appropriate level of competence in three-dimensional design. Emphasis is placed on understanding and responding to multiple criteria when providing design solutions. This unit includes the use of appropriate technology to inform and communicate design outcomes. It may include working independently and as part of a team.
1. - communicate design solutions through visualisation, digital media, and prototypes/models;
2. use investigative techniques and skills relevant to the design and manufacture of intermediate level product forms; and
3. work independently and as part of a team
Up to six hours per week consisting of lectures/studio/workshop. This unit may include field trips of up to two days.
Design Studio 2.1 (Industrial Design). This unit is not open to students who have passed Industrial Design 2.2.
