This unit develops the student's ability to apply design process and methodology and enhances design skills within a project-based program. The unit focuses on using three-dimensional concepts and skills to develop creativity. Emphasis is placed on responding to requirements set out in a design brief and identifying and applying appropriate methods to the design of manufactured products. The brief requirements include criteria related to issues of sustainability, social responsibility and the application of research in design.
1. communicate three-dimensional form in a range of two-dimensional formats and techniques and three-dimensional virtual and actual models;
2. understand design methodologies; and
3. respond to criteria in designing simple objects
Up to four hours per week consisting of lectures/studio/workshop. This unit may include field trips of up to two days.
