Syllabus
This unit will add to students' technical expertise in areas of the Corporations Law already dealt with in Law 4 Corporations, with particular reference to corporate finance, takeovers and securities regulation. The aim will be to build upon students' existing knowledge in these areas in order to develop a comprehensive understanding of these particular areas and to introduce broader policy issues. A particular focus will be upon the regulation of specific market offences and practices and the legal powers and role of the Australian Securities Commission and other regulators in the market.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
1. Find the relevant law and proposals for law reform in these areas, as well as being able to use relevant policy statements and related documents which are applicable to understanding the operation and effect of these laws. They will also be asked to present legal argument in relation to these areas and to communicate these to others.
