Syllabus
This subject provides students with an introduction to and understanding of administration in developing countries. Topics covered include the policy process, bureaucracy and its reform, planning, decentralisation, NGOs and public enterprise reform.
Learning Outcomes
- On completing the subject students will have an awareness of the turbulent and complex socioeconomic and political environments of Third World nations;
- familiarity with the major contemporary institutions for development administration and with the practices and problems of development administration;
- knowledge of current reform measures and proposals aimed to improve administration in developing countries;

Normally 39 hours of classroom and structured learning per semester or equivalent.
