Syllabus

The aim of this unit is to introduce students to theoretical and practical elements of the helping relationship. Students will learn a model of interpersonal communication and a set of practical skills that are important in a range of professional settings, and foundational for working with clients in human service delivery.

Learning Outcomes

DESCRIPTION:

1. demonstrate an understanding of the theoretical and practical elements of the helping relationship

2. demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain an appropriate facilitative relationship

3. demonstrate the ability to use and combine individual skills to explore key concerns

4. demonstrate self-awareness and ethical sensitivity in facilitative relationships and the application of skills
