Syllabus

In this unit students will further develop their disciplinary skills and understanding in a Studio learning environment of exploration and iterative design processes. The Studio aims to enhance learning frameworks and engagement with professional modes of practice. Projects may include a 'competition' project opportunity drawn from local or international design contexts, a 'live' project, or a 'simulated' work integrated learning project undertaken in relation to Industry, community and professional interfaces. The Studio will address emerging issues and concerns within contemporary practice contexts.

Learning Outcomes

After successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:

1. Demonstrate developing design skills and application within their disciplinary area;

2. Critically analyse and interrogate project scope with rigour and focus;

3. Creatively explore possible design responses to complex issues and concerns; and

4. Engage with industry, community and professional contexts to further their disciplinary understanding and knowledge.

Design Studio with tutors up to 4 hours per week on campus.

Prerequisites

Students must have passed 36 credit points in the core course discipline including:
(11014 BE: Analysis Studio AND
11020 BE: Design Studio OR 11023 Architecture Studio 1)
OR
11050 Design for Medium-Complexity

Corequisites

None.

Assumed Knowledge

Successful completion of year 1 and year 2 Studio units in Built Environment and Design disciplines.
