Engineering Project (10254.1)
|Level:||Level 3 - Undergraduate Advanced Unit|
|Faculty:||Faculty of Arts and Design|
|Discipline:||School of Design and the Built Environment|
This unit provides students with the opportunity to synthesize elements of theoretical knowledge and skills learned in their other units in the degree. Students, working in small teams, will research available information to inform an analysis underpinning their concepts for the design and documentation of an engineering project to standards applicable to a modern civil or structural engineering practice.
On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
1. Integrate identified engineering practices to prepare and present design documentation for a civil engineering project;
2. Critique established engineering practices applicable to a selected engineering project;
3. Operate effectively within a collaborative team based environment; and
4. Apply written and oral communication skills in a professional and academic context.
3 hours per week, consisting of 1 hour lecture and 2 hour specialised tutorial support.
Students must have completed 48 credit points towards their degree and be in the final year of study.
Underpinning knowledge of road design, structural design, estimating and project management.
