Civil Design and Drafting (10249.1)

In this unit students will examine the development of skills in the design of civil engineering projects such as roads, sewerage reticulation, water reticulation and inter-allotment drainage as applied within industry. Students will develop expertise in the documentation of such projects to a professional level of presentation using appropriate software.
On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
1. Examine current industry practices and standards for the design of roads, sewerage and water reticulation, and inter-allotment drainage services;
2. Employ calculations of fundamental parameters related to the design of civil infrastructure projects; and
3. Produce appropriate documentation for the civil infrastructure projects to industry standards.
3 hours per week, consisting of 1 hour lecture and 2 hour workshop.
