    Syllabus

    This unit provides students enrolled in the Bachelor of Nursing Advanced (356JA.1) with an opportunity to extend their learning through mentoring, reflection, Work Integrated Learning and the development of an advanced professional portfolio. Particular areas of focus for mentoring and WIL experiences include: Research which is supported through the other units associated with the degree, professional clinical education, post-registration clinical practice, and clinical leadership and management. Each student will establish effective mentoring relationships with focus on research and leadership. The primary product of the unit will be foundation of a professional portfolio to promote advancement in one or more of the key areas of nursing practice.

    Learning Outcomes

    On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:

    1. Critically apply an advanced capacity to critically develop professional learning goals;

    2. Negotiate and maintain professional mentoring relationships to support professional development;

    3. Critically engage advanced professional reflective behaviours in and on practice; and

    4. Curate and present professional learning artefacts contributing to evidence of professional development.

    Contact Hours

    WIL contracted experiences: Minimum 120 hours. Mentoring/Supervision sessions: As per negotiation between student and mentors.

    Prerequisites

    Must have passed 72 credit points (either the entire Bachelor of Nursing course or the first 3 years of the Bachelor of Nursing Advanced), including unit 10208 Integrating Nursing Concepts 6 (Capstone 3).
