Syllabus

This unit investigates the role of quality assurance and improvement systems in early education. It applies principles of sustainability and leadership as a platform for quality reform. This unit will investigate how to work in integrated service delivery and collaboration with others towards ongoing improvement, sustainable practices and responsive reform. Including approaches to effectively lead a team to support change and professional learning.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:

1. Demonstrate the skills and leadership aptitude to assess quality, embed and facilitate legislative, regulatory and National Quality Framework compliance within an early childhood education setting;

2. Demonstrate the knowledge and professional practice required to connect children?s world views with others and enable their contributions toward the services developing sustainable practices that impact on service operations and the wider culture;

3. Demonstrate skills and knowledge required to determine individual and team development needs and to facilitate the development of the workgroup; and

4. Demonstrate skills and knowledge to undertake supervisory, delegate tasks and coordinating activities in work groups in early education settings.

3 hours per week, consisting of workshops and 40 hours of placement.
