Possible changes to your unit's learning activities and assessment items

For the remainder of 2020, resulting from Australian Government's directives requiring physical distancing and restrictions on movement because of the COVID-19 pandemic, any exams that are required for assessment in a unit will be online exams. This unit studies dominant theories of the learning and development of young children birth to six years in Australia. This knowledge and understanding will be applied to guide and inform our work with children in terms of assessment and planning.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:

1. Demonstrate the theoretical and practical knowledge required to foster and enhance the holistic development and wellbeing of children from birth to 6 years of age;

2. Apply the skills and knowledge required to gather, analyse and inform program plans and assessments for and of learning;

3. Demonstrate the skills and knowledge required to support both individual, group and community approaches to developing cooperative behaviour; and

4. Demonstrate the knowledge and aptitude required to ensure children?s holistic well-being is maintained and their self-sufficiency and interdependencies are nurtured.
