Introduction

Visual Communication Design explores how we communicate and organise information in visually accessible ways. This course provides a well-rounded understanding of communication design in both the traditional sense; through an understanding of typography, layout, packaging, environmental graphics, publication, logo-type and publication design; as well as through the application of communication design in web-based applications and new technologies. Work integrated learning is embedded in this course, providing students with opportunities for direct industry engagement at every level of their study. The course has a strong focus on design in the global marketplace and students become well versed in understanding how to design for different cultural contexts. Along with a solid understanding of the theory and practice of communication design, students will learn key applications and techniques, giving them the skills needed for a multitude of roles within the visual communication industry.

The fees detailed above are the annual fee rates for the course. The annual rate is the fee that applies to standard full-time enrolment, which is 24 credit points. The final fee charged is based on the proportion of 24 credit points in which a student enrols. Students enrolled in a Commonwealth Support Place (CSP) are required to make a contribution towards the cost of their education, which is set by the Commonwealth Government. Demonstrate fluency in the visual vocabulary and technical skills relevant to visual communication design through display of image-making expertise and the development of visual design artefacts using a range of analogue and digital media. 1.1 UC graduates are professional: employ up-to-date and relevant knowledge and skills; and
