The Bachelor of the Built Environment (Architecture) will provide you with a liberal understanding of what it means to be an architect in a globalised and dynamic world. Contextually informed by its location in the designed capital city of Canberra, the architecture program focuses on architecture and the city; exploring the ways in which architecture studio, history and theory, technology and sustainability, and digital production and communication methods come together in the analysis and production of urban built form.
If your career goal is to become an architect, this is the first of two degrees needed to achieve professional registration, with the second being the Master of Architecture. This course has been specifically designed to provide the skills and knowledge necessary to ultimately practice in the architectural profession, and to be a future leader in the design of the built environment.
Study a Bachelor of the Built Environment (Architecture) at UC and you will:

- understand the ethical responsibilities of the profession to society and the environment
- formulate architectural design proposals underpinned by rigorous analysis, critique and reflection

Work Integrated Learning
Work Integrated Learning is embedded in this course, providing you with opportunities for direct industry engagement at every level of your study. A feature of the course includes engaging with leading design professionals and industry practitioners to gain valuable real-world architectural experience through the delivery of a series of ‘live’ projects. Internships at local, national and international architecture firms are also promoted.

Course-specific information
To gain professional registration as an architect you’ll need to complete both the Bachelor of Built Environment (Architecture) and the Master of Architecture. Successful completion of the bachelor provides the basis for direct entry into the Master of Architecture program.
Signature overseas study options have been tailored specifically to this course to ensure that students are globally connected. You’ll be provided with the opportunity to work with leading practitioners and students at a variety of overseas institutions.
The course is compliant with the National Competency Standards in Architecture (NCSA), as accredited by the Australian state and territory architect registration boards.
